Beginning July 27, 2025, Washington taxes radio and TV broadcasters at 0.484% of gross income. Broadcasters can exclude network, national, and regional ad revenue. They may take a standard deduction the Department of Revenue sets from the U.S. Census Economic Census average, updated by September 30, 2025 and every five years, or itemize by station and exclude the share tied to out‑of‑state audience. That share uses set signal‑strength contours: AM 0.5 mV/m; FM 1.0 mV/m or 60 dBu; TV channels 2–6 at 28 dBu, 7–13 at 36 dBu, and 14–69 at 41 dBu. The rules apply to FCC‑licensed stations with call signs, including delivery by wire or satellite; the act also places these rules in a new tax‑code section and states RCW 82.32.805 and 82.32.808 do not apply.
