The law keeps Washington’s livestock inspection program in place until July 1, 2030. The Department of Agriculture must submit a report by November 1, 2023 and every year after. The report lists fees collected, program spending, and the program’s financial status. It also gives recommendations, including any fee changes to cover costs. Reports go to state lawmakers and the livestock identification advisory committee.
The law keeps major parts of the 2023 livestock identification act in effect until July 1, 2030. Sections 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, and 11 stay active through that date. Section 2 now takes effect on July 1, 2030. This extends today’s program rules and fees, instead of letting them end in 2026.
