Beginning July 1, 2027, hospitals must publish price data and follow federal hospital transparency rules in 45 C.F.R. Part 180, subparts A and B, as they existed on January 1, 2025. Hospitals must send the Washington State Department of Health, at least once a year, the latest machine-readable file listing all standard charges for every item and service. They must also send the latest consumer-friendly list of standard charges for the required shoppable services. The law takes effect July 27, 2025. This gives patients clearer, official price information and does not set or cap prices.
