Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 3 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

State program supplies abortion medications

Beginning March 16, 2026, the Department of Corrections can get, store, and distribute abortion medications. It may do this for anyone, including people not in the state’s custody. The department must run a program and work with the Department of Health to choose recipients. It prioritizes bulk supplies to health care providers and entities, including Indian health care providers. It may charge for medicine and services, but does not have to. The department may only supply medicines to providers who use them for reproductive health care, including abortion care or managing early pregnancy loss.

Law takes effect March 16, 2026

The law takes effect immediately on March 16, 2026. The new authorities and the supply program start right away on that date.

Corrections Department exempt from wholesaler license

Beginning March 16, 2026, the Department of Corrections does not need a wholesaler license for specific actions under a 2023 law. This removes a paperwork step and can speed delivery of abortion medications. All other licensing and legal rules still apply.
