Washington plans: no prior approval for HIV antivirals

Beginning January 1, 2027, Washington health plans must cover FDA‑approved HIV antiviral drugs without prior authorization or step therapy. The rule applies when your plan is issued or renewed on or after that date. If there are equivalent versions, the plan must cover at least one of them without these hurdles. It can still use these rules on other equivalent versions. State-run employee health plans must follow the same coverage rule.
