Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 1 costs, 1 mixed.

Plumbing license suspension for repeat violations

Beginning January 1, 2027, the department may suspend your plumbing certificate, license, endorsement, or registration for up to two years if a final order finds five or more infractions within five years. Several violations from one inspection or audit count as one infraction. The suspension period starts on the date of the final order. The department must give regular enforcement updates to the advisory board of plumbers.

Stronger fines, limited relief for plumbers

Beginning January 1, 2027, fines for plumbing infractions increase. The first infraction is at least $100 for a person and $500 for a contractor. Later infractions can be up to $5,000. An administrative law judge cannot cut or pause these fines. The department sets a penalty schedule by rule. The department director may waive or reduce collection for good cause. All collected penalties go to the plumbing certificate fund.
