WV 529 rules match federal

Beginning June 10, 2026, West Virginia 529 plan terms follow federal IRS rules. “Qualified education expenses,” “distribution,” and “eligible school” mean the same as in federal law. This helps when you pay schools or file taxes for a WV 529. Eligible schools include colleges and qualifying K‑12 schools under federal rules. The law also restates that the old Prepaid Tuition Program is closed and defines the state board that runs the plans.
