New rules for commercial waste contracts

Beginning June 12, 2026, businesses that hire a solid waste hauler must use a written contract. The contract must follow the West Virginia Public Service Commission’s rules and orders. Contracts can last longer than one year. This brings clearer terms but can also mean longer commitments. It applies to solid waste motor carriers and their commercial customers in West Virginia.
