The Ron Yost Personal Assistance Services Act Board rules filed March 31, 2025 now apply in West Virginia. The rules govern how personal assistance services are overseen and run. Recipients, providers, and caregivers must follow these rules.
Employers who hire minors must follow the updated child labor rule refiled September 10, 2025. The rule is now effective and enforceable in West Virginia. It sets requirements and limits for work by minors and guides parents and teens.
Owners and operators of managed timberland must follow the certification rule refiled December 10, 2025. The rule is now the official standard for certification in West Virginia. It clarifies what landowners must do to be certified.
Tourism development districts now operate under a filed rule from October 8, 2024. Local governments, developers, and businesses in these districts must follow the rule when planning and running projects. The rule is now the official framework statewide.
Licensed wildlife rehabilitators must follow the revised wildlife rehabilitation rule refiled December 11, 2025. The rule is now effective across West Virginia. It clarifies requirements for licensed rehabilitators and agency oversight.
Coal mine operators must submit and get approval for a comprehensive Mine Safety Program under a rule filed September 24, 2024. The rule is now in effect in West Virginia. Miners and operators must follow the approved safety programs and processes.
If you boat at Stonecoal Lake in Lewis or Upshur counties, you must obey posted no-wake zones. Zones are marked by buoys or signs approved by the Director. Motorboats over 10 horsepower must be operated so they do not create a wake. These limits are now in effect at Stonecoal.
West Virginia updates hunting rules and definitions. Deer and migratory game bird rules filed March 31, 2025 are now in effect, with set seasons and limits. The small arms hunting rule filed July 25, 2025 also applies. New prohibitions on certain hunting and trapping behaviors filed July 25, 2025 are now enforceable. Hunters and trappers must follow the official definitions filed March 31, 2025.
