More caseworkers for child and adult protection

The law adds about $5.86 million to the Bureau for Social Services for FY 2026. The money comes from the state’s General Revenue balance and is effective upon passage. It increases funding for staff pay and benefits and social services under the Office of the Commissioner. It also boosts child protective services, adult protective services, social services caseworkers, and youth services caseworkers. For example, it adds $2.39 million for child protective caseworkers and $670,720 for adult protective services staff, through June 30, 2026.
