Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle E— - Reserve Components › Part PART I— - ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION › Chapter CHAPTER 1007— - ADMINISTRATION OF RESERVE COMPONENTS › § 10206
Members of the Selected Reserve who are not on active duty must get a full health and dental check every year. That includes routine preventive screenings and periodic full physicals that match the health risks of their military job, age, and gender. Each year they must sign and send paperwork to the Secretary in charge saying they are medically and dentally able to do military duties. Members of the Individual Ready Reserve or the inactive National Guard get physical exams when needed to check fitness for duty, promotion, attendance at military schools, or other career actions. Any reservist in an active or inactive status who is not on active duty must also send an annual signed certificate about their physical condition. When a reservist is ordered to active duty, the type of duty they will do must be considered when deciding if they are physically qualified.
