Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle E— - Reserve Components › Part PART II— - PERSONNEL GENERALLY › Chapter CHAPTER 1214— - READY RESERVE MOBILIZATION INCOME INSURANCE › § 12530
If an insured member serves more than 30 days of covered service, they must start getting their insurance payments each month no later than one month after the 30th day of that service. The Secretary must make rules about how those payments are sent to the member or to someone the member names. A member can name in writing another person (for example a spouse, parent, or someone with an insurable interest under the Secretary’s rules) to receive the payments and can direct that the money be deposited to that person’s bank account. If the member dies, the insurance for that service period is paid to the beneficiary named in writing. If no beneficiary was named, the payment is made under the laws of the state where the member lived.
