Anyone receiving educational assistance under this chapter must get a monthly subsistence payment while they are in school. A full-time student gets $300 per month, adjusted under section 2145. A part-time student gets half of that adjusted amount. Months of payments are counted as nine months for each standard academic year of assistance the person has. A student is full-time if enrolled in 12 or more semester hours (or the equivalent, as decided by the Secretary concerned).
