Summary

The Secretary of Defense may charge fees to people or companies who take part in Department of Defense conferences or similar meetings, like seminars, exhibitions, or symposiums. The fees can be charged directly or through a contract, and they can be collected before the event. Money collected goes back into the same budget account that paid the conference and can be used to cover or repay DoD costs. If fees are more than the actual costs, the extra must be sent to the U.S. Treasury as miscellaneous receipts.
