Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle A— - General Military Law › Part PART IV— - SERVICE, SUPPLY, AND PROPERTY › Chapter CHAPTER 155— - ACCEPTANCE OF GIFTS AND SERVICES › § 2614
Allows the appropriate military Secretary to accept communications equipment from local public safety agencies to help coordinate response and recovery during a disaster. The Secretary can also accept services to operate and maintain that equipment. The Secretary of Defense must write the rules for how this works. Equipment can be accepted only if the military’s own communications at the disaster site are not enough to meet military needs. Services can be accepted only if the military commander lacks the needed capability. People who provide those services are not federal officers, employees, or agents.
