The Secretary of Defense can allow the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) to share or provide mapping, charting, and geomatics data, supplies, and services to a foreign country or an international organization when there is an agreement to produce or exchange that data. The Secretary can also allow NGA to share those same items about areas outside the United States with a nongovernmental organization or an academic institution that does geospatial research or production, if there is an agreement to produce or exchange the data.
