Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle A— - General Military Law › Part PART VI— - ELEMENTS OF DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE AND OTHER MATTERS › Subpart Subpart B— - Atomic Energy Defense › Chapter CHAPTER 608— - ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER II— - RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT › § 6339

Summary

The Administrator must not create, run, or help run a long-term bioassurance program inside the Administration that would expand the Department of Energy’s role in national biodefense. That ban does not stop other parts of the Department of Energy or other federal agencies from having such a program. The Administration may help by using its resources, including national security labs or nuclear weapons sites, only if it is paid back for costs by an entity that is not part of the Department of Energy and the help does not get in the way of the lab’s or facility’s mission.
