The President can give a Soldier’s Medal, with a ribbon, to anyone serving with the Army who shows heroism that did not involve fighting the enemy. This can also be given to a Ready Reserve member even if they were not in an official duty status under section 101(d) when they acted heroically. A person may only receive the Soldier’s Medal once. For each later act that would deserve the medal again, the President can award a bar or other device to add to the medal or ribbon.
