Provost marshals, guard commanders, and masters-at-arms must accept a prisoner when a commissioned officer gives a signed statement of the offense. Within 24 hours, or when the guard is relieved, they must tell the commanding officer the prisoner's name, the charge, and who ordered the commitment.
