Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle D— - Air Force and Space Force › Part PART I— - ORGANIZATION › Chapter CHAPTER 908— - THE SPACE FORCE › § 9088
The Secretary of the Air Force must assign Space Force officers who finish initial officer training so that hiring in acquisition jobs stays comparable to hiring in operational jobs. The Secretary must also assign enough officers to Space Force positions at the National Reconnaissance Office to keep it running effectively. Within 60 days after the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026 becomes law, and by October 31 each year through 2030, the Secretary must send a report to the Committees on Armed Forces of the Senate and the House of Representatives. The report must show the number and percent of authorized and filled officer positions by rank and year in acquisition and operational fields; junior officer fill rates by career field and organization (including the NRO); any shortfalls or imbalances; and actions taken or planned to reach and keep comparable staffing.
