Title 10 › Subtitle Subtitle D— - Air Force and Space Force › Part PART III— - TRAINING › Chapter CHAPTER 953— - UNITED STATES AIR FORCE ACADEMY › § 9450
The Secretary of the Air Force can set an amount given to a cadet when they enter the Academy to pay for their first military clothing and gear. That amount will be taken out of the cadet’s pay. If a cadet leaves before graduating and still owes money for issued clothing, they must turn in enough distinctive military items to cover the debt. If those items are worth less than the debt, the remaining debt is canceled. Under rules the Secretary sets, cadets can also be issued uniforms and equipment at the Academy if they ask.
