People may be charged a fee for getting information from the Air Force Military History Institute. No fee is allowed when the request is made to do military or U.S. government work, or for records released under section 552 of title 5. Fees cannot be higher than the cost to provide the information. Money collected in a fiscal year must go back to the same appropriation that paid those costs that year. The Institute is the main archive for Air Force and Space Force records picked by the Secretary. "Officer" and "employee" mean what title 5, sections 2104 and 2105 say.
