Defines three terms used in this subchapter. Comptroller is the federal official called the Comptroller of the Currency. Unclaimed property is items, assets, or proceeds from safe‑deposit boxes or other safekeeping at closed national banks that the Comptroller now holds after taking over from the banks’ receivers. Claimant is any person or organization, including a State under applicable statutory law, who asserts a legal right to own or possess that unclaimed property.
