Farm Credit Banks and direct lender associations may join in loans that other lenders make to people who are like their usual borrowers but are not eligible for a direct loan from the Farm Credit system. Participate/participation — the legal term defined in section 2122(11)(B)(iii). Similar entity — a person not eligible for a Farm Credit loan but whose main income or assets come from activities like those of eligible borrowers. They may not join a loan if doing so would push their share over 10% of their capital (unless a higher limit is approved by stockholders and regulations), equal or exceed 50% of the loan principal (or together with other Farm Credit institutions reach 50%), make their total such participations exceed 15% of their assets, or involve a loan of the types in sections 2019(b) or 2075(a)(2).
