Title 12 › Chapter CHAPTER 34A— - APPRAISAL SUBCOMMITTEE OF FEDERAL FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS EXAMINATION COUNCIL › § 3332
The Appraisal Subcommittee must watch over how appraisers and appraisal management companies are regulated. It checks that states set rules for certifying and licensing people who do appraisals for federally related transactions and that states register and supervise appraisal management companies. It also reviews the rules from federal financial regulators about appraisal standards and which transactions need a state certified appraiser versus a state licensed appraiser. The Subcommittee keeps a national list of state certified and licensed appraisers and a national list of appraisal management companies that are registered with a state agency or are subsidiaries of a federally regulated financial institution. The Subcommittee must send a report to Congress by June 15 each year that explains what it did, shows audit results of state appraiser agencies, and lists any disapproved actions or warnings, why they happened, and what was done to fix them. It also monitors and reviews the practices, procedures, activities, and organization of the Appraisal Foundation.
