A State licensing agency must be able to investigate and examine loan originators who are licensed or who should be licensed under this law. The agency can review books, records, and computer files and can interview officers, workers, contractors, agents, and customers as often as needed to look into complaints or check compliance. The agency’s power applies even if someone says they are licensed or says they are not. Anyone under investigation must not knowingly hide, remove, destroy, alter, or conceal records.
