The Commandant must keep steady, efficient production and support to build Coast Guard systems. The Commandant must run follow-up tests to check performance and fix problems, and must do acceptance testing and trials so each delivered system works fully before it is handed over. The Commandant must award production contracts; make sure delivered items meet the cost and schedule limits in the acquisition program baseline; confirm the people and training needed to operate and support the systems; and make a plan to move the project into regular operations and long-term support.
