Summary

The President must treat as active service any time a Coast Guard Personnel Service Center representative said in writing (including email) that certain service counts toward total active service for regular retirement under section 2152 or section 2306. This applies even if the written statement was given before the Don Young Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2022 became law, and it applies when deciding the retirement eligibility of the officer or enlisted member who got the written statement.
