Title 14 › Subtitle SUBTITLE II— - PERSONNEL › Chapter CHAPTER 27— - PAY, ALLOWANCES, AWARDS, AND OTHER RIGHTS AND BENEFITS › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER II— - AWARDS › § 2742
The Commandant must not give certain top Coast Guard awards to someone if the Commandant thinks the person's entire service after those acts was not honorable. This covers medals like the Medal of Honor, Coast Guard Cross, Distinguished Service Medal, Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Coast Guard Medal, and any emblem or insignia given instead — and it also applies if the award would go to a representative.
