If an Auxiliary member is hurt or killed while doing work the Coast Guard assigned, they or their beneficiary get the same benefits that temporary Reserve members receive for service-related injury or death. If an Auxiliary member is injured or becomes sick while on such an assignment, they get the same hospital care as Coast Guard members. Travel time between a member’s home and the assigned duty location counts as performing duty.
