Defines key words used in this chapter. "Manufacturer" means anyone who makes or assembles new cars, imports new cars to sell, or works under the control of such a maker, assembler, or importer to distribute new cars. "Person" means an individual, partnership, corporation, business trust, or any organized group. "Automobile" means a passenger car or station wagon. "New automobile" means a car whose legal or equitable title has never been transferred by a manufacturer, distributor, or dealer to the first buyer. "Dealer" means someone in the United States, its Territories, or the District of Columbia who sells or distributes new cars to the first buyer. "Final assembly point" is the factory or plant where a U.S.-made car is produced and sent to a dealer with all parts needed for the car to run (installed or not), or the port where an imported car is brought into the U.S. "Ultimate purchaser" means the first person (not a dealer buying as a dealer) who honestly buys the car and not to resell. "Commerce" means trade among the States, with foreign nations, in the Territories, or with the District of Columbia. Cars delivered to, or for delivery to, first buyers in the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, American Samoa, the Trust Territories of the Pacific, the Canal Zone, Wake Island, Midway Island, Kingman Reef, Johnson Island, or any other place under U.S. jurisdiction are treated as being distributed in commerce.
