Creates the United States Travel and Tourism Advisory Board. The Secretary of Commerce picks members from travel and tourism companies and groups for 2-year terms. The Assistant Secretary for Travel and Tourism is the Board’s Executive Director, and the National Travel and Tourism Office is the Executive Secretariat. The Board must advise the Secretary on industry matters, government policies, current and future issues, solutions to industry problems, and the role of domestic travel in the economy. It must also help the Assistant Secretary develop and carry out the recovery strategies required under section 9803(e)(1).
