Title 15 › Chapter CHAPTER 60— - NATURAL GAS POLICY › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER III— - ADDITIONAL AUTHORITIES AND REQUIREMENTS › Part Part A— - Emergency Authority › § 3361
The President may declare a natural gas supply emergency if he decides a severe shortage that threatens important uses exists or is about to happen, and using the powers in sections 3362 or 3363 is needed after other options have been tried as fully as practical. A declaration ends either when the President says the shortage is gone or not imminent, or 120 days after the declaration, whichever comes first. The President may declare another emergency to extend it after that 120-day limit.
