Tribal governments may regulate professional boxing matches on their reservations. They can run the regulation themselves or hire a boxing commission to do it. They must pass a tribal ordinance or resolution that sets health and safety rules, licensing rules, and other rules about how matches are run. Those rules must be at least as strict as either the State rules that would apply where the reservation is or the most recent guidelines from the Association of Boxing Commissions. Indian tribe — the tribe as defined in federal law (see 25 U.S.C. 5304(e)). Reservation — the land area where the tribe has government authority. Tribal organization — the tribe’s governing body as defined in federal law (see 25 U.S.C. 5304(l)).
