Title 15 › Chapter CHAPTER 15D— - ALASKA NATURAL GAS PIPELINE › § 720l
Congress says North American demand for natural gas will grow a lot over the next several decades. It says both the Alaska Natural Gas Pipeline and Canada’s Mackenzie Delta project will be needed, and it urges federal and state officials to work with Canadian officials so both projects can move ahead. Because the Mackenzie project is smaller, needs fewer permits, and costs less, it will likely be finished before the Alaska pipeline. Gas from the 48 contiguous States and Canada will not supply all future demand, and Alaska North Slope gas will not replace or make Canadian or 48 contiguous States gas commercially unviable.
