The Administrator must regularly publish statistics and reports to keep the public updated about energy shortages, how long they may last, their effects, and the steps being taken to reduce those effects. Public disclosure follows section 552 of title 5, but trade secrets covered by section 1905 of title 18 may be shared only with people authorized under this law or when needed in a proceeding. The Administrator must also, at reasonable cost and on a request that reasonably describes the item, release material like what companies put in SEC annual reports under sections 78m or 78o(d), unless it reveals trade secrets or similar business details, and must set rules to protect personal privacy and, when practicable, let people access their own information.
