Registered investment companies and their affiliated people who are defendants in lawsuits brought by the company or by its shareholders on the company’s behalf must file copies of certain court papers with the Commission, unless those papers have already been filed. They must send copies of (1) pleadings, verdicts, and judgments; (2) any proposed settlement, compromise, or ending of the case; and (3) motions, transcripts, or other court documents the Commission asks for in writing. For the items in (1) and (2), if the company receives the document it must file it with the Commission within 10 days of receipt; if the document is filed in court or the company files or delivers it, it must be filed with the Commission within 5 days after that filing or delivery.
