The Administrator, through the Assistant Administrator for the Office of Research and Development, must study how perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) affect people and the environment and share the results with the public. The Administrator must also set a way to decide which PFAS or PFAS groups need more study based on exposure risk, toxicity, and existing information; build better tools to detect PFAS in drinking water, wastewater, surface water, groundwater, solids, and air; test cleanup methods; and create clear materials to inform the public. Up to $15,000,000 is authorized each year to carry out this work for fiscal years 2020 through 2024.
