Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 24— - CONSERVATION AND PROTECTION OF NORTH PACIFIC FUR SEALS › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER III— - ENFORCEMENT › § 1171
Any U.S.-controlled ship used in breaking the rules in this law can be taken by the government. That includes the ship’s gear, clothing, furniture, fittings, cargo, and supplies. Fur seals, or parts of them, taken or kept illegally, or their money value, can also be taken. The same legal rules the government uses for seizing and handling ships under the customs laws apply here too. That covers how a ship is seized, how courts decide forfeiture, how the ship and its stuff are sold, and whether forfeiture can be reduced — as long as those customs rules fit and do not conflict with this law.
