Congress makes the Youth Conservation Corps a permanent program to give young people paid outdoor jobs on national parks, national forests, and other public lands and waters. By doing this work they help care for natural resources, gain knowledge and appreciation of the environment equal to one full academic year of study, and prepare to manage these resources later.
