The Secretary of the Interior may accept donated land or money, buy land with federal funds, or otherwise get property as he decides to build an eastern approach to the park. The area is in the Sixth Principal Meridian, Township 5 North, Range 73 West, and includes certain parts of Sections 27, 34, and 35 (some parts are south of the current Highdrive Road right‑of‑way and some are north and west of the left bank of the Big Thompson River), totaling about 145 acres. It also includes a strip along the Thompson River up to an average of 500 feet wide for about 1.6 miles from near the center of Section 25 to that 145‑acre tract.
