Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER XXII— - LASSEN VOLCANIC NATIONAL PARK › § 204
The United States takes sole control of land in Lassen Volcanic National Park as of April 26, 1928, and for any land added later. California still may serve civil or criminal legal papers inside the park for matters that come from acts or crimes that happened in the State outside the park. The State can tax people and companies, their franchises and property in the park, and set and collect fishing license fees there. People living in the park can vote in county elections. Federal laws that apply to places under U.S. control also apply in the park. Anyone who flees to the park to avoid arrest is treated the same as fugitives found elsewhere in California.
