§2805 Coordination of national activities regarding aquaculture

Summary

Creates an interagency aquaculture coordinating group inside the Office of Science and Technology Policy. It will act as the Joint Subcommittee on Aquaculture of the Federal Coordinating Council, unless subsection (f) says otherwise. The group includes the Secretary of Agriculture as permanent chair and the heads or designees from major agencies such as Commerce, Interior, Energy, Health and Human Services, EPA, the Army Corps of Engineers, SBA, USAID, TVA, NSF, the Farm Credit Administration, and any other agencies the OSTP Director adds. The group must work to make federal aquaculture research and help more effective. It will review needs, check how well agencies are doing, plan and coordinate federal work, share information, promote joint programs, and recommend actions to the Federal Council. It must report regularly to the Federal Council chair. Agencies with aquaculture roles must, after consulting the group and when possible, act in ways that match these goals. If after September 26, 1980 the Federal Council’s duties are ended or moved to another agency, the group will operate under the OSTP Director and send its recommendations and reports to that Director.
