Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER XLI— - HAWAII NATIONAL PARK › § 395c
All hunting, killing, wounding, or capturing of wild birds or animals in the park is banned, except you may kill dangerous animals only when needed to protect people. Fish can only be taken by hook and line, and only at the seasons, times, and in the ways the Secretary of the Interior sets. The Secretary must make and publish rules to manage and protect the park, including protecting timber, natural attractions, animals, birds, and fish. Having a dead wild bird or animal inside the park is treated as proof you broke the rule. Anyone, including carriers like stage, express, or railway companies, who knows or should know animals were taken illegally and transports them is responsible. Anyone who breaks these rules or willfully damages park buildings, fences, trees, gardens, springs, natural features, or other park property will be guilty of a misdemeanor and face a fine up to $500, up to six months in jail, or both, and must pay court costs.
