Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER XLVII— - MAMMOTH CAVE NATIONAL PARK › § 404c–3
Hunting, killing, wounding, or capturing any wild bird or animal inside the park is not allowed, except you may kill dangerous animals if needed to protect people from death or serious injury. Fish may be taken only when and how the Secretary of the Interior says. The Secretary must create and publish rules for running and protecting the park, including rules about fishing and protecting trees, minerals, natural features, animals, and birds. Having the dead body or any part of a wild bird or animal in the park is treated as evidence that you broke the rule. Anyone (including transport companies) who knows or has reason to believe the animals or fish were taken illegally and accepts them for transport can be charged. People who damage park buildings, signs, trees, gardens, springs, mineral deposits, or other park property, or otherwise break these rules, commit a misdemeanor and can be fined up to $500, jailed up to six months, or both, and must pay the case costs.
