After the Federal Government buys these properties and until the buildings are torn down or put to use for the Independence National Historical Park, the Secretary may run, lease, maintain, or remove buildings or parts of them as he thinks best for the public. Rent money must go into a special account and be used to operate, maintain, or remove the properties. The Secretary may hire or make contracts with public or private parties, even if other laws would otherwise apply, on terms he finds appropriate.
