Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER LIX–Y— - CALIFORNIA DESERT LANDS PARKS, PRESERVE, AND OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLE RECREATION AREAS › Part Part C— - Mojave National Preserve › § 410aaa–46
The Secretary must manage the preserve like other National Park units under this part and under the National Park Service Act of August 25, 1916. Hunting, fishing, and trapping are allowed on the preserve under federal and state laws. The Secretary can close certain areas or set times when those activities are not allowed for safety, management, or legal reasons. Except in emergencies, closures must follow talks with the State wildlife agency. State authority over fish and wildlife stays the same, and the Secretary may not require a federal permit to hunt, fish, or trap there.
