Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER LIX–DDD— - WEIR FARM NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK › § 410ffff–1
Protect and preserve Weir Farm in Connecticut. The farm is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. J. Alden Weir bought it in 1882 and helped start American Impressionism. Working artists and their families have lived and worked there continuously. The site includes the house, barns, studios, pond, field, woods, and approximately 113 acres of nearby natural land owned by the Nature Conservancy and the Town of Ridgefield. The goal is to keep the farm’s art history alive, protect the setting that inspired artists, and give the public chances for enjoyment, inspiration, and learning.
