Summary

Creates the Weir Farm National Historical Park in Connecticut. The park includes four pieces of land: the about 2-acre core with the Weir house, studio, and barn; about 60 acres and its improvements owned by the State of Connecticut; an about 2-acre parcel in Wilton (listed as lot 18 on a map dated October 27, 1978, filed in the Wilton town clerk’s office as number 3673); and the about 0.9-acre western part of a parcel in Wilton shown on that same map. A boundary map dated June 1994 must be kept on file and open to the public at National Park Service offices. The Secretary may buy up to 15 more acres in Fairfield County to build visitor and administrative facilities. Any land bought must be added to the park and managed as part of it. Development must be kept to a minimum so the new land stays similar to the park’s natural character, though the Secretary may buy land that was already developed and is not required to restore it. Before building, the Secretary must make agreements with the local government that has legal authority to plan parking and facilities and to manage bus traffic, including keeping large tour buses parked offsite.
