Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER LIX–DD— - BLACK CANYON OF THE GUNNISON NATIONAL PARK AND GUNNISON GORGE NATIONAL CONSERVATION AREA › § 410fff–3
The Secretary can acquire land or land rights shown on the park map as proposed additions. The land can be gotten by donation, transfer, purchase using donated or appropriated money, or by exchange. The owner must agree before any land is acquired. After buying land, the Secretary must add it to the park boundary and manage it under the law. The Secretary must complete an official boundary survey as soon as possible if funds are available. The Secretary may allow hunting on privately owned land that becomes part of the park under limits the Secretary sets. If the Secretary later buys full ownership of that private land, the hunting permission for that land ends.
